ABOUT
Jeff is a widely experienced and dedicated clinician, who completed his Osteopathic degrees at Victoria University Melbourne in 1999. Prior to this, he completed a B.Sc. (Hons) in Clinical Sciences at Plymouth University, then became a PhD research scientist and tutor at London University. From there, he moved to Bristol University and studied post graduate education, with his early teaching years in Melbourne and Bendigo. He then taught science in NZ, and clinical undergraduate sciences in Australia, at the same time as he became fully qualified as an Osteopath. After becoming an Osteopath, Jeff worked for 13 years in a Sports Medicine and Pain clinic in the Channel Islands near France, then on returning to Australia built his own practice in Echuca and then worked as a FIFO Osteopath in Darwin and Kalgoorlie.
Despite studying, teaching and practising as a health care professional for close to 30 years, Jeff maintains a passion for learning, always trying to improve himself and looking for new ways to get better results for his patients. He is very well versed and experienced in most aspects of physical medicine and is able to assist the vast majority of his patients whatever their age, with their health and wellbeing. His special interests are lower limb and foot dysfunction, plus human metabolism in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women, in which he holds a specific Masters Degree. He has completed additional courses in foot and lower limb biomechanics, electronic gait assessment, ergonomics, risk mitigation in aged care and dry needling.
He has a keen interest in all aspects of health, physical medicine, fitness, exercise and education, complemented by his passion for making diagnoses and planning treatment with patients. He loves the challenge of identifying specific areas of the body likely to be contributing to pain, and works hard to correct mechanical dysfunction in order to achieve optimal movement, rehabilitation, and ultimately to reduce pain.
Chronic pain and how the emotional brain influences pain, is something Jeff has become increasingly interested in over the years. Addressing the internal and external factors that contribute, and educating patients on their condition has become an important part of his treatment explanations – and he would love to expand on this in the future.
Jeff enjoys the outdoors with activities including running, cycling, snow skiing and bush walking, often with his family and children.
